Our curiosity often makes us observe the world with different lenses and from multiple standpoints. We find it essential to engage and collaborate with many types of people and perspectives when we are engrossed in a challenge. We also like to get deep into what we notice. Sometimes things stand out but ever so often it takes some digging to get to the rainbow of possibilities.
We’re design activists at heart. We’re constantly brainstorming, ideating and imagining ways to make things better and to create a positive change in the world. We love making complex ideas easier to understand through powerful visuals and storytelling. We indeed believe that great ideas and knowledge should be accessible to all and not just to those sitting in boardrooms. Bottom-up and top-down approaches pushed by left and right brain engines.

A Refracted World
STORY
Our story begins with a desire to set free from long working hours regurgitating the same ideas, insights, and strategies over and over. We craved time and energy to be curious and creative again, we longed for excitement, freshness, and a change in direction - we needed to refract!
During the Corona lockdown, we got on a casual video call and ended up brainstorming the idea for Studio Refract. What can people with itchy feet and backgrounds in strategic research, design thinking and visual illustration do after all? We came up with an idea, developed it, and executed it.
We built Studio Refract: a co-working studio helping brands we love and are proud to engage with driven by our smart thinking and innovative vision.

Priyanka
Design Thinker & Strategist
Priyanka leads Strategy and Innovation at Studio Refract, she’s our idea clarity person. She’s successfully worked for some of the biggest brands in the world - Pinterest, Facebook, Google, Bacardi, Pepsico, Kelloggs to name a few.

“My life has always been about design, in fact I’d never imagined a career that didn’t include the word design in it. I’ve worked with some of the best people from around the world on thought-provoking projects and learned how to be awesome at global project management. But in true Millennial fashion I started asking those deep life questions. Could boutique design hotels, airline miles and avocado toasts keep me from burning out? Turns out not. I constantly ached to create something new and exciting.”
Sonali
Design Catalyst
Sonali is the Design Lead at Studio Refract, she is our bundle of creativity. Her superpower is understanding what the client needs opposed to what they want. Making beautiful designs out of nothing is her second nature.

“Creativity is my way of life. My approach to it is the same as tackling a complicated but loving relationship - it has its challenges, but ends up being worth it. Over time I’ve been trained to work well under pressure while iterating on many, many, many rounds of client feedback. As a design manager at Kapiva Ayurveda I learnt the ins and outs of branding, packaging and digital design by helping successfully launch multiple product lines. My ultimate goal was to recreate the same experience for many other brands looking to level-up their design strategies.”
Aili
People and Culture Specialist
Aili takes care of anything people related and wears the black hat of reality checks at Studio Refract. Her superpower is pinning down people to ensure everything is running smoothly. Her expertise lies in moderating, project management, sarcasm and playing lousy Bollywood music.

“I have a million talents accumulated through a lifetime of trial and error that make me immensely open to change. I made India home after travelling the world and the seven seas and carry a global population of contacts up my sleeves. I endlessly stalk people online and this makes me a very good business developer, a liaison with experts and influencers as well as the so called marketing ‘targets’. As they stand, my areas of expertise are relationships, sexuality, youth, social media and an understanding of people pushing trends forward, but this might change too.”
